Xbox 360 and Windows XP Media Center combo

I read somewhere that Microsoft is willing to lose tons of money on the Xbox 360 to beat off Sony in the console wars.  They figure that with the Xbox 360 entrenched in the living room, consumers would then opt for Windows XP Media Center on their home machine (in their home office) to run as a media server.

Previous form factors that try to blend a Windows XP Media Center PC among the AV components were not successful.  So plan B is to have XBox 360 serve as the “Media Center Xtender” for the Windows XP Media Center PC in the home office.

I, myself, am thinking of getting an Xbox 360 Premium (hopefully with the HD-DVD drive)  and assembling or buying a Windows XP Media Center PC this Christmas 2006.  Will keep you posted once I’ve finished.  I’m waiting for MS to announce their Vista upgrade coupon (rumoured on Oct. 26) to decide on whether to buy or assemble.
